Shuttle Media Center M 2000M – a complete media centre PC with finesse
Media centre PCs in hifi format were recently tested by the Swedish IT magazine Tech World. Part of the test field was the Shuttle Media Center M 2000M which impressed its testers with "extensive hardware" and "appropriate dimensions."
With 44.2 x 35.0 x 7.8 cm it is bigger than its competitors, but has "appropriate dimensions" for a media centre PC of this kind. "As the Shuttle Media Center M 2000M is a complete PC" and ready to use out of the box, it "doesn't require installation" of additional hardware. The unit which meets the Intel Viiv standards is equipped with "extensive hardware right from the beginning," notice the editors of the Swedish IT magazine after having unpacked the box.
DVD writer, card reader, FireWire, USB 2.0, line-in and microphone are available on the front panel. The VFD display in the centre of it gives information on the system's status when running. On the rear most, the Shuttle Media Center M 2000M sports a drive bay for an additional 2.5 inch hard disk.
"A fitting hard disk enclosure is also included in the delivery," writes Tech World. In addition to the mainboard and a S-ATA3 hard disk with 250GB, the Shuttle Media Center M 2000M comes with the NVIDIA GeForce 7600GS PCI-Express graphics cards. As one would expect it from a media centre PC in hifi format, two TV tuner cards are already built-in.
