The "whispering cube", as the Shuttle XPC Barebone SN25P was dubbed by the editors of the German IT-magazine C't was made even more quiet by MR Computer. Its noise level is now lower than a normal conversation!
"Shuttle's nForce4 XPC Barebone SN25P is already a low noise barebone in its original shape. Having had the modified variant by MR Computertechnik for test, the Shuttle XPC Barebone SN25P now manages an even lower noise level than before," describe the editors the fully-configured PC named "Ichbinleise" [I am quiet] by MR Computer that is based on the Shuttle XPC Barebone SN25P. Some little modifications helped it "with good ratings anyway" to become a "quiet "Ichbinleise" fully-configured PC." "A big linear contolled fan by Zalman" brings fresh cold air into the case, but also can be adjusted to everyone's needs. Want more power? Just turn up the cooling. If you prefer less power, but an extremely quiet PC, turn it down and work in sheer silence, realized by rubber buffers and a 120mm fan. "In practise, the modifications were helpful and effective," write the editors. "The noise emission was reduced from about 1.5 to 1.0 Sone." Sone is the measure for a subjective unit of loudness, and 1.0 Sone is below the value of a normal calm conversation. This is the proof that the Shuttle XPC Barebone SN25P is a real "whispering cube."
Conclusion:
"Considered on the whole, the "ichbinleise" modifications are a success."
